A Defining Week Begins Today

On Friday, December 23rd the US refused to block a UN Security Council resolution regarding Israel's ownership of the West Bank. This was the first time the US has 'abstained' from protecting Israel in such matters. Such a spiritually-inept move is not a surprise, considering a supposedly brillant man recently said of Israel that they can be either Jewish or Democratic, but not both. Such foolish statements are the rot-gut babblings of men/women who have had their conscience seered, ears...

The Miracle Of Light & Life

Most of us know by now that Jesus/Yeshua's birthday was not actually on December 25th. Without going into all the research and details, let me just say that shepherds are not watching over their flocks by night at the end of December in the Israeli hills. Believe it or not, Israel actually gets a fair amount of snow in the winter, especially in the higher elevations. Bottom line is … it’s too cold to have the flocks out over night.

There is ample evidence that placing the birth of...

Atonement & Tabernacles: Part I

The Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot) began in Jerusalem a short while ago. Tabernacles is a time of great joy and rejoicing. The focus for this day — and the week that follows —  will be an energetic celebration of God's goodness and provision, both for the past and in the current moment. Regardless our current stress, circumstance or world events . . . the LORD of all creation is continually speaking blessing over those who have chosen Him. His desire from the beginning was and is to...

The Feast of Trumpets: Part II

Third and finally, the Feast Of Trumpets is also our calling out to ‘awaken’ God, to invoke Him to rise up on our behalf.  Isaiah 51:9 cries out . . .

“Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD!
Awake as in the ancient days, In the generations of old.”

Of course, the Scriptures tell us that the LORD never sleeps.  This shout-out to the LORD is to be understood in the sense of God moving in an amplified way, such as calling Messiah to fight for us in a...

Feast of Trumpets: Part I

The Scriptures define the Feasts of Trumpets as Yom Teruah . . . the Day of Blowing.  By implication, it is understood as the blowing of the shofar, and has become know as the Day of the Awakening Blast.  I say this a bit tongue-in-cheek, but if you have been in the room with a real shofar blast, well, it will awaken you!

The Feast of Trumpets is a rather mysterious day on God’s calendar.  It is the only Feast of the LORD which occurs on a biblical New Moon (which is different that an...

Jubilee & The Fall Feasts

A year ago, many people were wondering what happened at the end of the regular Shemitah cycle.  As the prior two, seven-year cycles came to completion, a market crash marked each with an exclamation point.  Jonathan Cahn has rightly pointed out there was a shemitah pattern . . . and it is statistically unlikely that two market crashes, seven years apart, and on the same closing day of the Hebrew calendar would be just a coincidence.

Cahn points out in his book on the shemitah that God...

Repentance: Part III

We are formed in this world (along with being born with a sinful nature) to self-protect, defend, deny and support our pride. Repentance will include admitting I am wrong and that goes against the natural flow of things in this world.

At the same time, as mentioned previously in the prior two posts, a disposition of repentance is critical if we are going to live an authentically empowered life from above.  So, what we cannot do on our own is supplied to us by God and His abundant grace. He...

Season Of Repentance: Part II

An honest person will admit that repentance is no easy concept.  The average person will likely bristle a bit when confronted with the idea of repentance, whether they would admit it or not.  So, viscerally we tend to react negatively to repentance, but the difficulty actually extends more deeply than a basic emotional roadblock.

If we are to accept a Biblical definition of repentance then we likely realize that most of the time when we feel bad about something we have done . . . we...

A Season Of Repentance

Elul 1 is upon us . . . that day on the Hebrew calendar that marks the 40 days of Teshuvah (the season of repentance).  Repentance, of course, is not a particularly hot topic these days.  Posting to Instagram is much further up the list of 'must do' items.  Yet, I would be remiss to not try and bring attention to something that is critically important to those who are authentic followers of Jesus.  He said He was going to return for His people and that being prepared is something that...

Three Steps To Success

I'm not a big fan of New Year's Resolutions or 'Steps' to this or that.  So why am I posting with a title like this? Well, because there are three things we can do to help succeed in our life's journey this new year.  Simple truths - if implemented daily - would make a difference in a relatively short period of time.  They could lead to significant life-change by the time 2011 comes to a close.  So, here they are . . .

1.  Calibrate Your Perspective
The first is to calibrate our...
