PERSPECTIVE

Knowing that people walk through our doors for a variety of reasons, The Moriah Foundation provides a variety of services to help with life’s journey. From just wanting to have a more meaningful walk with God to needing professional counseling assistance, The Moriah Foundation works to help match up the need to an appropriate level of care.

There are a variety of ways people access our services. Some come in to check out our RENEWAL gatherings, others through our training program. We receive phone calls on a regular basis from individuals, couples and families seeking direct professional counseling. How you prefer to access our services is up to you. We will do our best to connect you to the assistance you are seeking.

PATHWAY TO WHOLENESS

Services of The Moriah Foundation exist for the fulfillment of Isaiah 61 and Luke 10:27.
"The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me, because the LORD has anointed
Me to preach good tidings to the poor. He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted,
to proclaim liberty to the captives,
and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;
to proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD. . ."

"So he answered and said, 'You shall love the LORD your God with
all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength,
and with all your mind,' and 'your neighbor as yourself.''"
We believe that there are two key aspects in living the abundant life that God desires for us.

First, we must squarely face our own woundedness.
"For I am poor and needy, and my heart is wounded within me."
-Psalm 109:22-
Second, we must learn to walk with God and live in His love.
"Teach me Your way, O LORD; I will walk in Your truth;
Unite my heart to fear Your name. I will praise You, O Lord my God,
with all my heart, and I will glorify Your name forevermore."
-Psalm 86:11-12-
Both of these key aspects of a relationship with God are often relegated to the margins in
institutional Christianity, when it comes to the practical focus of a life with God. In it's place
are programs and a default emphasis on right behavior.

While The Moriah Foundation desires for righteousness in the personal life of each individual
and the public life of each institution, we believe that the emphasis needs to come back to the heart of the matter. The Lord Jesus Christ came into this world - sent by the Heavenly Father - with a mission to bind and heal our broken hearts and to set us free, who are captives to sin and our own self-efforts.

As we experience the healing transformation of God's love, it draws us more deeply into His heart and we learn to love Him the way He loves us. Desire for personal holiness is stirred and reaching out to others becomes an overflow of God's healing love through us.

The Moriah Foundation Services provide assistance in understanding both a process for healing the wounded heart and for living in the love of God.

TRANSFORMATION GROUPS

The Moriah Foundation transformation groups consist of two subsets.

TRANSFORMATION I GROUPS: Freeing Wounded Hearts
This core set of classes provide building blocks in both healing the broken heart and establishing a new foundation of understanding in regard to who we can be if we are born anew of the Spirit through Jesus Christ.
The four core Transformation I classes are:
•Victory Over The Darkness
•The Life Response Group
•The Bondage Breaker
•Choosing Forgiveness
TRANSFORMATION II GROUPS: Living In The Love Of God
This set of classes provide further avenues of healing through experiencing an increasing understanding of not only what it means to walk with God, but also what it looks like in everyday practical life. Much of life is spent learning to live apart from God. These classes take the time to open our hearts to His love and to let Him become Abba Father.

Transformation II classes vary as to the information focused upon. Some of the groups we have previously provided are as follows: The Sacred Romance, Waking The Dead, Journey Of Desire, Wild At Heart, Captivating, Shame Off You, Spiritual Disciplines, Renovation Of The Heart, The Divine Conspiracy . . .

SUPPORT GROUPS

The Moriah Foundation provides a variety of support groups that rotate from time to time. Some of the support groups that have been previously offered are as follows:
•Conquering Co-Dependency
•Shelter From The Storm
•Love To Eat/Hate To Eat
•Boundaries
•Grief & Loss
•Untangling Relationships
•Safe People
•Conquering Eating Disorders
Support groups are run by Licensed Professionals and - at times - co-facilitated by Lay Counselors who have previously attended the same group. Availability of any particular group depends upon the availability of leaders and the current expressed interest.

INDIVIDUAL CARE

While The Moriah Foundation places an emphasis on the group experience, there is also a focus on individual concerns. If you pursue Moriah individual services, you will be asked to fill out an intake packet and complete a personality inventory. This is to provide Moriah with an overview of your life story and to give you an objective starting point as to what the issues are and where your Individual focus needs to be.

Research shows, again and again, that people tend to grow more through group work than individually. Yet, there are times when roadblocks are experienced, as growth is occurring within the group process (or just in life, for that matter). At times it is simply that we need more individual care due to the sensitivity of the issues at hand.

Within The Moriah Foundation are two basic types of individualized care: Prayer and Professional Licensed Counseling.

PRAYER
Prayer is provided on an individual and time-limited basis, for the purpose of:
  • praying through a specific issue that has arisen through the course of group participation.
  • learning to apply a specific understanding in prayer.
Professional Counseling
The Moriah Foundation provides an avenue for receiving professional counseling.
We have arranged for professional counselors to be available on site in situations where:
  • at intake it is determined that a person's situation calls for an increased level of care, which The Moriah Foundation does not provide.
  • during the course of regular Moriah class participation, it is determined that an increased level of care is needed, for the optimal benefit of the participant.
  • an individual calls in to The Moriah Foundation and is specifically seeking professional counsel.
